Would love some new workout plans been following you for years!

Scooby Werkstatt's avatar

After I am done with fat loss articles, I will start on the workout plans :)

Paul Arnott's avatar

Will you be posting any new workout plans for 2025? Thanks for all the advice 👍

Joey's avatar

Would you go on the Joe Rogan Podcast if he invited you? Asking out of curiosity. Have a great day :)

Scooby Werkstatt's avatar

I would find it too stressful.

Ivana's avatar

Scooby! I'm happy.

I was thinking of recreating your website as a side project at some point. Could I get your old database maybe? or maybe publish your old code on github for open source contributions?

You could even upload the old copy and leave it as read-only. It would just be nice to learn from! I imagine others might like to modify your code and could create their own impressions of your app with new features, updated libraries, etc. this way

What languages are you using for it? What will the stack be?

Scooby Werkstatt's avatar

Sorry. I dont want it ending up as open source because then it will just become a pimp-mobile for supplement sales. If I can get an engineer experienced with the ChatGPT API I would consider working with them to make a next generation meal planner but it would NOT be open source ... for the same reason.

Ivana's avatar

How would integrate chat gpt into your app?

Lol "pimp mobile"

I don't know how the legality works, but I would be personally happy with even just a read-only repository. Just wishing out loud though

Scooby Werkstatt's avatar

One cant rely on the legal system, if its open source then people will pimp the mealplanner out to sell supplements. The only way is to lock down the code where nobody can see or modify it.

bootcamp4me's avatar

any chance that the custom meal planner is coming back? im just starting my journey 250 pounds fat and have no idea where to start on these websites to find something comparable for free

Scooby Werkstatt's avatar

Only if I get an engineer familiar with the ChatGPT API who is willing to do all the coding :)

In an odd turn of events, I rewrote custommealplanner because I was bored after my total shoulder replacement. Here it is: https://custommealplanner.com/

I've been doing your advance extreme PPL split for about 6 months now, I'm constantly getting questions about having to little rest, and having too little intensity to build muscle but for me it feels like this is the first time i actually look like I'm lifting, and i love the supersetting style of working out, I really hope you go more into details about these kinda workouts, their doing wonders for me.

Little Jimmy's avatar

Hey Scooby, what about gaining muscle using resistance bands?

Morgan's avatar

I live virtually 100% organic and try to go vegetarian as much as possible but at 6'4, 210lbs, I am not comfortable with eating that much in real food (literally feel like I am going to gag and it becomes a tedious chore). Protein supplements (Whey etc) seems to be the solution but since you recommend staying off supplements do you have any thoughts on how to get there? Your suggestions would have me eat almost 2lbs of beans daily (I do eat other things but just making a point to show that even with a high protein food it is still a lot to take in.

David's avatar

I'm no expert, just a long time follower. Can't speak for Scooby but I don't consider clean Whey a supplement. To me supplements are more like mass gainers/preworkout and the like. But Whey to just get the protein needed in is almost a requirement for me. The problem I've had in the past, is when I try to eat just clean healthy unprocessed foods to get the required protein in to build muscle, I can't do it and still be at a healthy 25% caloric defecit. So I undereat, miss the protein anyway, and end up at a daily thousand caloric defecit, sometimes more. I need Whey to help with this, that and sometimes moving into some higher calorie foods that are still decent but not perfect, in order to keep my calories at a reasonable level to build muscle. Now, I imagine when I get leaner, this will be less of an issue, since I will burn fewer calories, but for now, at least for me, it's just too extreme to eat exactly like he suggests all the time and still be able to put on muscle.

Youe"e 100% correct! The internet is full of lying scammers and false prophets. Don't fall for their lies - your will only end up poorer and physically and mentally injured. Scooby is the "Real Deal"

Prawnsoda's avatar

The part about ”what exercise will I love” was both excellent and simple! But what does the XOXOXO mean?

Scooby Werkstatt's avatar

Sorry, its not “love and kisses”, its a representation of the week where “X” is a workout day and “O” is a rest day. I should have stated that

Deej's avatar

Thanks for the response, Scooby. I think 8 pull-ups makes sense as a measure. Any thoughts on benchmarks for pushing and leg strength? It'd be great to hear your views on when one should bulk and when to cut and on when it's possible to gain muscle in a calorie deficit and when one would need to run a calorie surplus. I hope you'll have a newsletter on those issues at some point. Thanks again!

Deej's avatar

Thanks a lot, Scooby, for those links! The first one was especially informative. I look forward to more of your newsletters.

Nice article!

Dear Scooby, I am so glad you’re going to offer written materials again. I miss having your website available. I wanted to ask about point 8. What do you think the line between newbie and intermediate is? I ask because I am confused about where I’m at, and I’ve read elsewhere that those who aren’t very fat and past the newbie phase need to run a calorie surplus to gain muscle. What do you recommend for those who might be past the newbie phase and still want to gain some muscle and lose a little fat? Thanks for all the advice and information you’ve shared over the years!

Scooby Werkstatt's avatar

Its very arbitrary how one determines whether you are still a newbie or not. I thought long and hard about what simple test would let people decide which to use on my website and I used the number of pullups because its probably the best overall measure of fitness. By that definition, intermediate was when you could do 8 bodyweight pullups.

Wow. What a fantastic list! Truly inspiring and motivating to read real world advice without ulterior motives or a hook and reel at the end. Thank you for always sharing your knowledge, sir!
