I think im one of the few females on here that has an issue with losing weight. I'm 33 years old and had a baby 6 months ago. I've been trying the diet based on your calculator on your website, but I can't seem to lose much weight or body fat. I weigh 157. 5'5 and trying to lose 30 pounds at most, but I would go up and down a few pounds every day. However my BMI has been slowly decreasing. I work out 3 times a week. I left weights mostly at least 30m-1hr. I will say that maybe its cause I'm not exactly counting everything. I'll have brown rice, beans, and chicken breast through out the week, but then I'll eat like a chewy bar or two at the end of the day. Still I do see some progress but very little. Like ill lose 0.1% of body fat may go down in a week. What can I be doing wrong? I have this scale that measures pretty much everything but idk how accurate this really is.

There absolutely is a way to lose fat fast without losing muscle mass. Lyle McDonald literally wrote an entire book using all of the available research on fat loss after finishing his Ketogenic Diet book that has over 300 valid references. No, it's not a fad diet and in fact a diet that has a ton of vegetable intake. Nobody that follows it loses muscle mass, but you don't really workout too much on it due to the deficit. Just minimal volume and minimal cardio LISS cardio. I lost 70 lbs in 3 months on the diet with the first 50 coming off in 2 months and no health issues because I ate the veggies and other foods that were allowed on the diet.

You absolutely can make fat loss delicious. People that are against it seem to be biased towards artificial sweeteners, MSG, etc, but none of those things has proven to be dangerous in lean individuals with a healthy lifestyle (i.e. eat vegetables, don't smoke, etc).

Ephedrine absolutely works. That's why they made ephedra illegal(that and people were abusing it). But, the EC stack when used properly has been scientifically proven to speed up metabolic rate by an extra 5-10%(I think up to 10, but may be just 5% which over time adds up) and suppress appetite. Some people have been using it for over 20 years with no issues. No supplements will give steroid like results, but there are definitely some that can help a given situation.

I'm a fan of your work in general, but these things on this list are just wrong.

Great topic on discussing depression and priorities. I’ve suffered depression for years and I’ve had to have the conversation with my MD of what’s more important to me, medication (giving me side effects such as major fatigue among other things 🙄 for years) or my fitness goals. I chose the latter. It may not be the best choice for everyone, but it’s what I prioritized. Although I still prioritize my therapy with my psychologist. THANK YOU for sharing!!

Its kinda sad how so many people are unsympathetic to those with depression. Gotta love the oh-so-helpful people who say "just SMILE, it will make you feel better".

I'm new to your substack.

I think the point you don't deserve nothing is so important not only in fitness but also in achieving goals. " I'm going to take a break from my project because I deserve and been working a lot lately" I'm guilty of this too.

The point about food being too delicious really hits home with me. I love cooking delicious food, it is an interest of mine. Maybe I should get rid of that one. Priorities, priorities.

Some people can use willpower and portion control with delicious food ... but not many.

I started following you like 19 years back in my teens. I got into sports more and more and had a lot of fun. I am very happy you are back, i love how you at least back in the days focused on doing exercise while being careful of injury and warning about it .

I got back to you after a longer time as right now i have decided to again go back to strength training due to wanting to be a kickass older person. Able to life great grand children etc.

Thanks for being such a blessing to the exercise Community.

Check with your local community college for mental health resources. They might have a free/low-cost program that allows you to talk with a mental health student. They need the practical experience and it's a good place to start or a way to supplement your other mental health resources. Sometimes, all you need is someone to listen.

My experience is that Mental & Emotional Health are key drivers of obesity. Rarely do obese people lack the knowledge of how to eat healthy, nor do they lack the desire to do so. Food Addictions or Eating Disorders are more challenging because there is no means to quit (cold Turkey), and the daily exposure to indulgent marketing.

Love the platform Scooby - been following you as a fan - for many years

Perhaps we have been exposed to different groups. What I have seen in the general population is that most people will tell you they understand what "good nutrition" is but when you start asking them questions, they are horribly underinformed.

Rock on. Your approach is rock solid and works like a Swiss clock. People truly lack patience when it comes to working hard, but have all the patience in the world when it comes to stacking fat - and when they do have the patience to work hard at fat loss, they go ahead and ruin it with the "i deserve it" attitude! Jesus, how many times did i use to do this.

Great to have you back Scooby. By the by what do you think of the modern Youtube fitness community? It seems to morph yearly, with everyone having a new astounding never-before-heard secret. Lol.
